Alan has been a multi-talented designer, producer and artist for over 10 years. He brings to The M-Line a wealth of creative vision and a passion for the art of design. From art institutions, to Fortune 500 companies, Alan has developed award-winning work in print, packaging, interactive and motion graphics. Alan has led many projects at The M-Line including brand and design efforts for Visual Numerics, OMN, The San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau and Glide Memorial Church. He was instrumental in creating the design and advertising collateral for Glide’s annual fundraising event “Soul of the City” where the non-profit received over $800,000 in one night, their highest-grossing fundraising effort to date. Along with designing at The M-Line, Alan is the director and founder of the San Francisco-based arts organization, ME'D1.ATE NETWORK, where he organizes and curates provocative exhibitions and events with a diverse array of local and international artists. He has been featured on PBS, NPR, SF Weekly, London's Resonance FM, amongst others, for his work with ME'D1.ATE. Most recently, Alan produced, curated and led the PR effort for the Soundwave>Series. The experimental music series became a sensation with entirely sold out shows, cementing it as a premier festival in the vibrant Bay Area art scene, in only its 2nd season. Previous to The M-Line, Alan produced cutting edge work at his own design consultancy, Alan So Design, with such clients as the BC Ministry of Small Business, Tourism and Culture, the NHL’s Nashville Predators and REM Event Management. Before opening his own studio, Alan was a founding member of Cappelletto Design Group, a firm providing special event and retail design to such clients as Coquitlam Shopping Centre and In Any Event Inc. Alan was also an Art Director at Vancouver’s leading design agency, Koo Creative Group (now part of Cossette Communications) with clients including Big Picture Technologies, Gotham Restaurant and Music Revue Vancouver Magazine, as well a computer graphic artist at video game giant Electronic Arts. Alan holds a Bachelors of Design from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada.
